Course Title: Social Media for Businesses 

Date: 15 & 16 April 2024

Duration: 2 days, 5-hour sessions 

Location: Learning.gi  


Day 1:

Module 1: Introduction to Social Media Marketing (1 Hour)

An introduction to the different key platforms available and how to use them. (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok) Discussion of the pros and cons of each platform for business.  


Module 2: Setting up and Optimizing Social Media Profiles and Branding (1 Hour)

Setting up or updating existing profiles to tie the business together and how to maintain a consistent brand image across the different platforms. Importance of using high-quality visuals and images.  


Module 3: Content Strategy and Creation (2 Hours)

Different types of content that can be created and what tools/resources can be used. Content planning, including content calendars and storytelling in content. Examples of successful content strategies in different industries.  


Module 4: Content Scheduling and Posting (1 Hour)

How to schedule posts, best times to post, and how to use social media management tools. The role of hashtags in increasing content visibility.

Day 2:

Module 5: Engagement and Community Building (1 Hour)

How to engage with the audience/potential clients and strategies to build an online presence. Tips on responding to comments, handling negative feedback, and encouraging user-generated content. The power of influencer marketing and partnerships for community building.  


Module 6: Analytics and Insights, Social Media Policies and Compliance (1 Hour)

How to use the platforms' analytics and insights to measure the success of social media campaigns. Explanation of privacy laws and data protection regulations affecting social media.  


Module 7: Paid Advertising on Social Media (2 Hours)

What are the different types of advertising options available, budgeting, target audience, and reach. Practical examples of successful ad campaigns on different platforms. A/B testing and optimization techniques for paid ads. Ad targeting options, including custom audiences and lookalike audiences.  


Module 8: Hands-on Practice and Questions (1 Hour)

Participants will practice setting up and scheduling posts for the week during this session. Opportunity for participants to present their work or strategies for feedback and discussion. Provide additional resources for further learning and keeping up with social media trends.   


Additional Notes: Social media accounts for your business are not required, these can be set up in the course, however it would help if you already have personal social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
