About GCSE History

GCSE History is an academic course that explores and analyses significant historical events, periods, and their impact on society to develop a deeper understanding of the past.

At Learning.gi our history GCSE qualification is aimed at extending students' knowledge and understanding of history beyond Key Stage 3. The focus is on studying new areas of content, revisiting and deepening previously studied content, and developing various skills related to historical thinking and analysis.

Aims and Objectives: 

​

Extending Knowledge and Understanding: Students will explore specific key events, periods, and societies in local, British, and global history. The emphasis is on gaining a deeper understanding of these historical contexts and the wide diversity of human experiences. 

 

Historical Enquiry and Critical Thinking: Students will engage in historical inquiry, promoting their development as independent learners who can think critically and reflectively. This involves the ability to ask pertinent questions about the past and investigate historical issues critically. 

 

Analysing Sources and Making Claims: Students will develop the skills to analyse historical sources within their context. They will learn to make valid historical claims based on their analysis of a range of sources, considering their reliability and significance. 

 

Understanding Significance and Interpretations: Students will gain an awareness of why certain people, events, and developments hold historical significance. They will explore the reasons behind the construction of different interpretations of historical events and figures. 

 

Communication and Conclusion: Students will learn to organize and effectively communicate their historical knowledge and understanding using various methods. This includes reaching substantiated conclusions based on their analyses and research. 

 

Overall, this GCSE qualification aims to provide students with a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of history, fostering critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to communicate historical knowledge effectively. It also encourages them to develop an appreciation for the diversity of human experiences and the various factors that shape historical interpretations. 

 

We have an option to do Modular History GCSE some students may prefer this as it is less pressure at the end of the year. Please email us for more information

GCSE Course Fees

GCSE Psychology Course in one year.

​Classes take place weekdays between 4-8pm during term time and are 2h duration.

Pay monthly or benefit from FREE classes by paying the Year in advance.
